Description

Relentus is a centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxant manufactured by Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd. It is used to manage painful muscle spasms associated with musculoskeletal conditions and spasticity related to neurological disorders, such as multiple sclerosis and spinal cord injuries.

For spasticity, the initial dose is 2 mg three times daily, which can be gradually increased to 12-24 mg daily in divided doses. The daily dose should not exceed 36 mg. Dosage adjustments are required for elderly patients and those with renal or hepatic impairment.

Common side effects include drowsiness, fatigue, dizziness, dry mouth, and nausea. Less common side effects include bradycardia, insomnia, hallucinations, gastrointestinal disturbances, altered liver enzymes, and, in rare cases, acute hepatitis.

How to Use

Relentus should be taken orally as directed by a physician. The dose is individualized and adjusted based on the patient’s response. It can be taken with or without food. To avoid withdrawal effects, treatment should be discontinued gradually.

Pregnancy & Lactation
